If you’ve ever worked at a desk, you’ll probably know the pain of working behind a desk and looking at a monitor that is not set at the right height. You’ll feel neck and back pain pretty soon when you’re working like that for a long period of time.

On a correctly installed DJ setup, your laptop should be higher than your DJ controller or mixer. You’ll need a laptop stand to do this.

DJ Laptop
A good DJ laptop should have a lot of processing and memory capabilities for the DJ software to perform at an optimal level and to store all your music.
A lot of DJs have a huge preference for MacBooks because of their top-quality performance and memory capabilities.
As a beginner, you don’t need to buy the most expensive ones and you shouldn’t. What you should do though is look for a laptop, preferably a MacBook that is capable of handling low to medium use of DJ software.
I’ve been using a MacBook Air for all my gigs since I was a beginner. The price is great for beginner DJs because it is not too expensive but it gets the job done very well. It is easy and light to carry with me and easy to store and what I also love about this edition is the color.

DJ Speakers
When you’re DJing from home you can use the speakers of your laptop if you want to. When you want to have good quality sound coming out of your speakers though I recommend buying some good ones for your DJ booth.
